Beautifully Frugal: Meet your Advisor: Konrad Zagzebski
This month I am excited to share some insight from one of the newer advisors on our team, Konrad Zagzebski! Konrad joined our team in January of 2024 after recently moving to the Green Bay Area. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a consumer finance emphasis. Following his graduation from UW-Madison, Konrad earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP™) certification in 2021 and completed De Paul University’s Financial Planning Certificate Program.
Can you tell us about your early influences and what sparked your interest in finance?
“My grandfather was a private banker, and my father owned a cheese packaging company. He bought my first stock for me when I was about 10 years old. I can't remember exactly, but it was either Apple or Netflix.”
That’s an early start in investing! How did other family members influence your career?
“My grandmother made a big impact by taking me to visit the elderly, which taught me about the importance of care and connection. That is also where I learned how to play euchre. My mother, a mental health counselor, also influenced me with her focus on helping others. All these experiences guided me toward becoming a financial advisor.”
What has been your biggest challenge as an advisor?
“ One major challenge is that money can amplify emotions and situations. Balancing solid advice with allowing clients to make their own decisions is crucial. I aim to empower my clients to take control of their financial futures. At the end of the day, it is their money.”
What improvements do you think are needed in the industry?
“ The communication of financial advisory fees needs improvement. The different ways advisors are paid can be confusing. Fee-based, fee-only, commission? Hourly? Which one is it? How much am I paying? The industry should clearly explain fees, compensation, and services. KerberRose does a great job of being transparent.”
What do clients value most in your experience?
“Every client values something a little different, but there are a few things that come to mind. I'd say financial insights and security are top priorities. Many also place importance on educating their heirs and other family members, ensuring that everyone is included and respected. It’s a privilege to be part of my clients’ journey!”
What’s your biggest piece of advice for the younger generation?
“ Understand and use the power of compound interest. Starting to save and invest early, even in small amounts, can lead to significant wealth over time. As Einstein said, ‘Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world.’"
What is your biggest passion outside of work?
“I love the outdoors—golfing, hiking, fishing, and skiing. I’m also busy with my two boys and enjoy a good cup of coffee with my wife, Gretchen.”
Lastly, what does fiduciary responsibility mean to you?
“ To me, fiduciary responsibility means the client comes first. It’s about ensuring that every decision is made with their best interests in mind.”
If someone reading this blog was interested in contacting you to look at their particular financial situation, how could they do that?
“Please contact me through email at konrad.zagzebski@kerberrose.com. I’m always happy to help.”
